Top Tours and Activities in La Restinga, Spain

La Restinga is a small, peaceful fishing village located at the southern tip of El Hierro, the smallest of Spain’s Canary Islands. Known for its volcanic landscapes, clear waters, and relaxed atmosphere, this hidden gem attracts travelers looking for tranquility, fantastic diving spots, and untouched natural beauty.

A Brief History

Originally a simple fishing settlement, La Restinga has grown while keeping its authentic charm. The development of its port and the local fishing industry played key roles in its growth, but the town also gained worldwide attention from the diving community thanks to its rich marine life and volcanic underwater scenery.

When to Visit

The climate stays mild throughout the year, but the best time to visit is between May and October. The sea is calm and warm, ideal for diving and snorkeling, while the town remains pleasantly quiet even in high season.

Is La Restinga good for diving?

Absolutely. The area boasts some of the best scuba diving in Europe, with crystal-clear waters, dramatic volcanic reefs, and abundant marine species. Several diving schools and boat tours cater to beginners and experienced divers alike.

How can I get there?

The village is about a 40-minute drive from El Hierro Airport or the ferry port in Valverde. Renting a car is the easiest way to reach the town and explore the island at your own pace.
